Making up these gorgeous hats is both fun and rewarding as you can change them to suit, for sizes very easily.

Using the basic beanie pattern, this is a gorgeous baby hat for the little princess.

Hook 4.00mm (UK) I use Double knit yarn.
Each round is joined with a slip stitch,


Special instructions:(always make a stitch in every base of chain 3 to start! (this continues the shaping of the beanie.)

head circumference of finished hat 12 inches 32cms (will be stretchy as using Double Crochet (DC) 


how to create a magic circle - You will never look back .














Rnd 1:  Magic Circle Chain3 11 DC in Magic circle, slip stitch into 1st (12 including the chain)
Rnd 2:  Chain 3, Remember 1st Dc in the base chain 3 counts as 1 DC
2 DC in every stitch round (increasing every stitch around)
 Slip into top of chain 3 to join






Rnd 3:  Ch3, Remember 1st Dc in the base chain 3, (counts as 1st Double Chain)
*work 1DC, 2DC in next sttich* repeat ** around
(you are increasing 1 at every 2nd stitch around)
 Slip into top of chain 3 to join











Rnd 4:  Ch3, (Remember 1st Dc in the base chain 3)
*work 2 DC,  2DC in the next stitch* repeat ** around (you are increacing by 1 in every 3rd sttich around)
 Slip into top of chain 3 to join














Rnd5- Rnd 9 Chain3, Starting in base of Chain 3 Double Crochet in each stitch round
(Your hat will be taking shape now)
 Slip into top of chain 3 to join on every rounds









Rnd 10- Rnd 14 (Ch1 at the beginning of each round) Single Crochet around.  Slip into top of chain 3 to join

Magic Circle
10SC into circle, slip st to join,

 Chain 2, slip into next stitch repeat around until you have 10 loops (if you want a 5 petal 6 petal just adjust by skipping stitches in between)
Slip into st base of 1st loop



chain 2,  3DC in loop for petal,  ch2 slip into base of 1st loop.

To finish thread a simple ribbon through the last round of Double Crochet Posts
I usually leave a long tail to attach the flower to the hat.

    You can get the same by Chain 4 slip into 1st Stitch to create a cirlce and make the amount of stitches needed into circle. but once you master the magic loop there will be no stopping you! good luck and do let me know if you get it

  2. I am a new crocheter, and am a little confused with this pattern-
    do I make a stitch in the base of the chain 3 on each round?
    And doesn't 2 DC, 2DC in next St, mean the same thing as 2DC in each stitch around? I'm so confused!! Help!

  3. Nope it is not the same, you are creating increase
    for the 2 DC, 2DC in next stitch (3 stitches and creating 1 extra) making 4 stitches out of 3?
    you 2 DC, DC 2 into the third.....


    Hope this helps
    This is the basic pattern for a beanie, just keep increasing until circumference desired is reached

  4. yes make the first DC in the same st as the Chain 3 #
    Rnd 3: Rnd 3: Ch3, *1DC, 2DC in next st* repeat from * to * around

    Rnd 4: Ch3, *2 DC, 2DC in next St* repeat around

    Rnd 5 to Rnd 9 continue in DC continue starting in base of chain 3

    Rnd 10- Rnd 14 Sc around.

    you will have a completed hat with 14 rounds
