Recently I was reminded just how fast babies grow when my grandson was born, it seemed for the first few weeks after he was born, nothing we had bought seemed to fit properly as he was still a little scrunched up!
I of course had made a few crocheted baby items, but what we were astounded at was how quick he outgrew the newborn hats, yet still the shop-bought ones were too big or uncomfortable for him.
I actually crocheted him several of these FAST Easy to Crochet Baby Beanie hats made in the Half double crochet stitch, and I've now written out the first few sizes due to popular demand.
BABY HAT SIZES:
The Half double crochet Baby hat pattern is written Newborn, 1-3 months, 3- 6 months, 6- 12 months (note: all sizes are approximate)
I recently had a frantic call from a Mumma who had a whopping 10lb baby and needed the crochet hats just a little bigger than the average newborn size.
So I made a few of the hats in different colors and bigger sizes.
I Love the half-double crochet stitch for baby hats, as it is a nice stretchy stitch yet is super warm to help baby keep nice and cozy.
