NOTES on color change:
If you are wanting to use alternating colors for the hat remember this hat is worked from the top-down.
And in a Spiral, so the color changes might seem a little off, to help combat that.
Make sure you join the NEW color, pull through the NEW color in the LAST pull through of the single crochet,
So yarn over pull through original color, yarn over with only NEW color and pull through the new color.
How to make your bucket hat FIT properly and What Size to make your bucket hat
- Take your head measurement Around the fullest part (this is the circumference)
- DIVIDE that measurement by 3.14
- This number will measure the CIRCLES DIAMETER (when your increasing the circle once you meet this measurement you can STOP increacing, or if you need it bigger, keep increasing in the SAME pattern as you have been making the increases.
For this bucket hat, it will fit a Head circumference of an Adult LARGE = 22''
The Bucket hat length is approx = 22-23 cm / 8¾”-9”. I have found this the best length, for most people, and just gives enough turn up if you need it.
Materials to crochet the bucket hat
YARN: I used a Double knit weight Yarn just less than 100g ball.
Hook size 3.5 mm (I am quite a loose crocheter so please keep checking it's going to fit, and adjust, the hook or tension to suit you )
you will work in a continuous spiral, so you may prefer to use stitch markers to keep track of the rounds.
The pattern is written in US terms
