Newborn Baby Crochet Bonnet Pattern, Beautiful EASY written crochet pattern to make a delightful baby bonnet with a delicate shell edging around the face.  This is a very easy pattern showing you how to crochet a simple newborn bonnet.

Materials Required:

King Cole Comfort DK 

4.50 mm hook 

Ribbon to finish 

Please Read Pattern instructions carefully before starting to crochet. You will work in rounds first then when the pattern states continue working in ROWS back and forth.

NOTE: I am an extremely loose crocheter so please go up a hook size if you feel you need to.

size of the bonnet will fit Newborn-3 months (ADD more rows if making for slightly larger than NEWBORN AND please adjust hook size as I am an extremely looses crocheter 

Round 1: Ch4, 16 Dc in first ch, join to ch3 (16 sts)

Round 2. Ch 3, working first 2dcs into the BASE of the ch3  (2Dc in each st,) repeat ( to  ) around. slip to join (32)

Round 3. Ch 3, 2Dc in base of ch3, Dc in next stitch, (2 Dc in next st, Dc in next st) . Rep(  to ) around, slip to Join. (48) 

Round 4: Ch3,  Dc in base of ch3 and Dc in next 5sts, 2dc in next st,  (Dc in next 6 sts, 2Dc in next st) Repeat (to ) around, slip to join join.  you will have (increaced by 6 stitches) , ch3, slip to join  (54sts) 

you will now work BACK and forth across the sides and TOP of the bonnet

ROW 5. Dc in each stitch, leaving last 6sts unworked (NECK OPENING) Ch 1, TURN (48 sts)

This is how your bonnet should be looking now

ROW 6. Dc in each stitch, leaving last 6sts unworked Ch 1, TURN (48sts)
ROW 7: Dc in each stitch, leaving last 6sts unworked Ch 1, TURN (48 ) (This is the ROW where you will thread the Ribbon later) If making for a larger than a newborn please work 2 extra ROWS 

For bigger size  work Row 8 Row 9: Dc in each stitch, leaving last 6sts unworked Ch 1, TURN (48 ) 

NECK Make sure you have the Bonnet RS facing you for these decroative ROWS 

ROW 1: At end of last row, ch 1. Working ALONG the Neckline. Place 1 St in the end of each row and in between dc's on row 4. Ch 1, turn.

ROW 2: sc across the row and in each ch 1 sp. DO NOT FASTEN OFF

Simple Shell Stich Border for the Bonnet.

Row 1:  Sl st in 1st st around the face, *skp 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skp 1 st, sc  in next st. Rep * across the front of the bonnet.
Fasten off and Weave in Ends Thread ribbon through LAST worked Double Crochet Row of Bonnet.
