This pattern is quick to crochet up and memorize the easy shell pattern repeat.

The Baby Shell Blanket Crochet Pattern is written in US terms
You should be able to understand these crochet terms to learn how to crochet the solid shell stitch.
sk= skip stitch
SC= single crochet
DC=double crochet
rep=repeat
ch=ch
SC= single crochet
DC=double crochet
rep=repeat
ch=ch
Once you are in the rhythm, you can do this whilst watching your favorite film.
Finishing off the blanket with an easy frilly, lacy border and threading a ribbon around take this baby blanket into the totally cute category.
You can easily make this shell crochet baby blanket in ANY size you wish. The base combination for the shell stitch is Any Multiple of 6 sts + 2.
IF you want to make this blanket BIGGER make a chain your required length ( make sure you can SUBTRACT 2 and then DIVIDE this number by 6)
The basic Shell Blanket Crochet Pattern
Row 1: SC into 2nd ch from hook, *sk 2 ch, 5DC into next ch, skip 2 ch, SC into next ch; rep from * to end, turn
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 DC), 2DC into first st *sk 2DC, SC into next dc, sk 2 DC, 5 DC into next SC; rep from * ending last rep with 3dc into last SC, sk turning chain, turn
Row 3: Ch 1, SC into first st, *sk 2 DC, 5 DC into next SC, sk 2 DC, SC into next dc; rep from * ending last rep with 1 SC into top of turning chain, turn
Repeat Rows 2 and 3.

Easy Baby Blanket in Solid Shell Stitch Pattern
My finished blanket size was 27" x 30"
Work 5 DC into the SAME stitch to make a shell.
Gauge is not overly important.
I used a 4.00mm hook
Crochet Terms are all in US.
Ch 122 stitches. (This will create 20 shells)
Row 1: SC into 2nd ch from hook, *sk 2 ch, 5DC into next ch, skip 2 ch, SC into next ch; rep from * 20 times to end, (you will SC in last ch) turn
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 DC), 2DC into BASE of ch3, *sk 2DC, SC into next dc, sk 2 DC, 5 DC into next SC; rep from * ending last rep with 3dc into last SC, sk turning chain, turn
Row 3: Ch 1, SC into first st, *sk 2 DC, 5DC into next SC, sk 2 DC, SC into next dc; rep from * ending last rep with 1 SC into top of turning chain, turn
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your preferred length. Do not fasten off.
Frilly Baby Blanket Border
Rnd1: Ch1, Work in SC around ALL 4 sides of the blanket, making 3 SC in each corner stitch.
Rnd2: Ch3, Work in DC around the whole blanket, make 3 DC in each corner stitch. (i thread a ribbon around here if requested)
Rnd3: Chain 5, SC in next st,* ch5 SC in next st* work from * around.
Fasten off neatly weave in all ends.
thread your chosen ribbon around the double crochet round.
