The Carnation Flower is one of the easiest and fastest crochet flowers to make. I made several crochet carnations flowers in one evening and they make a beautiful a crochet flower Bouquet as a gift.
What you will need to Crochet the Carnations
A small amount of Green Yarn I used a Double Knit Yarn
25grms of Pink
25grms of Pink
Hook 2.5mm (or the Hook you wish to use)
Glu Gun
Bamboo/ Kebab Sticks
Abbreviations are written in the US
Sc single crochet
Dc double crochet
TrC treble crochet
Carnation FLOWER Crochet Pattern
Step 1:With Green
Rnd1: ch 2, Working into the first chain, work 2 Sc. (8 sts) DO NOT join the Rounds, place marker and work continuously
Rnd 2: *2Sc in each sc* Repeat from * to * around (16 sts)
Rnd 3: *Sc into the next st, Repeat from * to * around (16sts)
Rnd 4: *Sc into each st*, Repeat from * to * around (16 sts)
Rnd 5: *Sc into each st*, Repeat from * to * around (16 sts)
Rnd 6: *Sc into each st*, Repeat from * to * around (16 sts)
FASTEN OFF and leave a long tail and thread in and out AROUND the Last rounds of stitches DO NOT pull to Tighten YET. Once finished with the Flower petals you will add a little stuffing here and PULL TO CLOSE OVER the base of the flower and use the rest of the tail to wrap around the bottom of the Flower once made to close.
STEP 2: Crocheting the Petals of the Carnation Slip stitch to join PINK in any stitch, *Ch2, slst into the next st* REPEAT from *to* around (16) LOOPS)
STEP 4: Petals
Ch4, (counts as Treble crochet) and work a further 9 TrC ALL into the same space (first 10 Trc made into the Ch2 space loop from previous round), [FIRST petal made]
*slip st into the next ch4 loop and (Ch4, 12 TrCr, ch4), all into the same Ch4 loop*, Repeat from * to * around. Fasten off the Pink and weave in the ends.
STEP 5: Lightly Stuff the GREEN part
and PULL TIGHTLY the GREEN long tail to close over the carnation flower petals
STEP 6: Wrap the tail several times around the bottom of the leaves and tie tightly to finish.
Weave in ends and Fasten OFF.
Turning your Crochet Flower Head into a long-stemmed crochet flower.
- You will require a long bamboo/ wooden kebab stick.
- Twist your green yarn around the stick until the wood is all covered.
- 'use Glue to keep it from unraveling.
Use a small amount of Glue to insert the Tip of the Wooden skewer into the bottom of the green part of a flower.
