For these newborn Booties, I used Aran Weight Yarn and a 3.50mm UK hook. And the booties came out lovely and chunky.

This is an easy-to-remember crochet pattern, which turns out perfect every time. The booties are more traditionally made making the instep and then creating the shoe part. So I have added some step-by-step photos to keep your right
I found it difficult to source crochet patterns perfect for boys, so I will add this to my collection as great little crochet project perfect for making for a baby coming home
- SIZE - Will fit 0-3 months
- Newborn - Using double knit yarn and a 3.50mm hook sole measure toe to heel 3.50 inches
- Using a 4.00 mm and aran yarn finished Sole of foot length = 4 inches
- Go Up one hook size for a larger baby.
- The pattern is written in US Terminology.
- sc2tog= Draw up a loop in each of the next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook - sc2tog made
Ch 21. (extremly Loosley)
Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring (Make Sure this is made VERY loosely) This is the top of your booties that the cuff will be added onto later. And Baby's foot needs to fit through this part of the bootie.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, in base of chain, work 1 dc, and dc in each ch around. Join with sl st to the top of ch 3.
(20 dc).
Rnd2: Ch 3, in base of chain, 1 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, in base of chain, work 1 dc, and dc in each ch around. Join with sl st to the top of ch 3.

Rnd2: Ch 3, in base of chain, 1 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.

Row 1: Ch 1. 1 sc in base of ch1 and sc in each of next 6 dc. Turn. (7sts)

Row 3: Ch 1. sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2sts. Sc2tog. (5sts)
Row 4: Ch 1. sc in base of ch1,1 sc in each of next 4 sts. (5sts)
Row 5: Ch 1. sc in base of ch1, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts.(5sts)
Row 6 : Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in next sc. Sc2tog. Turn. (3sts)
Instep: (Top of foot from Front of ankle to toes)
Row 1: Ch 1. 1 sc in base of ch1 and sc in each of next 6 dc. Turn. (7sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. sc in the base of ch1 1 sc to end. Turn.(7sts)
Row 3: Ch 1. sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2sts. Sc2tog. (5sts)
Row 4: Ch 1. sc in base of ch1,1 sc in each of next 4 sts. (5sts)
Row 5: Ch 1. sc in base of ch1, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts.(5sts)
Row 6 : Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in next sc. Sc2tog. Turn. (3sts)

You will now be working in RNDS (including the stitches around the sides of the piece we have just made)
(you will have 2 sc into the corners at the toe)

Next Rnd: Work for 4 RNDS as follows: 1 sc in each sc around. Do not join (30sts)
Rnd 5: Sc2tog twice. 1 sc in each of next 9 sc. (Sc2tog) twice. 1 sc in each of next 9 sc. sc2tog twice,
Rnd 6 : (Sc2tog. 1 sc around Join with sl st to first st.
Fasten off. Leaving a long tail to sew the seams together. (PIC 3 Below for visual explanation)

With RS of work facing,
Join yarn with sl st to any top of beginning ch sts.
1st rnd: Ch 2. 1 front post double crochet, around previous 1 double chain, 1 back post double crochet round next double crochet of previous round, continue around {fpdc, bpdc} to create a ribbed effect
2nd round. Ch2, fpdc, bpdc around. sl st to top of chain 2 to join.
continue working in the fpdc, bpdc around for 4 rounds. fasten off and turn down the top of the boot cuff.
Finish off neatly all ends
