This Chunky Beanie crochet Hat with rib turnup is an easy-to-crochet hat pattern!
And Yes, this Crochet hat pattern is even suitable For Beginners at Crochet. As it is SO easy.
I'm calling this the Episode Hat. As it can be made while watching an episode of your favorite series!
The hat is crocheted holding 2 strands of Aran Weight / worsted weight yarn held together.
And did I mention the hat Pattern is made with beginner-friendly simple stitches?
Single crochet stitches worked into the BACK LOOPS of the previous row and Double crochet stitches are used for the main part.
And even as a beginner, I found crocheting hats as one of the most enjoyable crochet projects to make! Especially when I could crochet a hat in less than an HOUR!
I find the Warmest crochet hats to be the type of hats I crochet with a Large ribbed turn-up brim.
Like my popular textured crochet hat pattern, which uses the yarn over slip stitch to create a close almost knit look brim for the hat.
That even the high Scottish wind cannot penetrate the crochet brim ribbing on the hat !
This Episode crochet hat uses single crochet stitches for the brim worked back and forth in the BACK LOOPS of the previous rows of single crochet stitches. This creates the Crochet Hat ribbed Brim.
The main body of the hat is then worked in ROUNDS, using double crochet stitches, worked in the round, and slip stitch to join the rounds.
Crocheted hats make superb gifts for anyone hard to find a gift for.
The Hats l are so warm and cozy! its hard to NOT wear them.
My husband and I always find ourselves looking for one of my crocheted hats to wear out on our walks along the North Coast Of Scotland!
With the high winds blowing the double turn-up brims are what keep your ears toasty and warm from the harsh elements.
I have 2 favorite ways of crocheting a hat with a turn-up!.
Single crochet is all worked into the Back Loops of the previous stitches you have just made. Which is what we will be doing for this hat.
OR
Back Loop Slip stitch - yarn over slip stitch worked in the back loops (This is probably the WARMEST of the crochet stitches, especially if you crochet the Turnup Wide enough then you have the crocheted turnup folded over twice for maximum warmth ) and the crochet stitch almost looks like it is knitted.
