Even If you are a beginner at crochet you CAN Crochet slippers! I have added in the step-by-step photos and the simply written crochet pattern to help you crochet your very first Crochet Slippers. 

The slippers are crocheted holding 2 strands of yarn together so they are a great crochet project to use up your stash yarn AND they are super fast to crochet making them an ideal gift! 

I honestly get asked by family members all the time to crochet a pair of slippers as  they are so cosy and warm.  I guarantee they are a great hit.

I love crocheting these slippers because the pattern is so easy and you can crochet whilst watching your favourite programme.

My daughter and her friends do prefer the Longer type of  Crochet Slipper Boots that I crochet for them. So they can fold down or wear like socks.

I have provided the measurements as a guide for you to crochet a pair of slippers that fit! Make a Note of the sizes required. 

NOTE: Add some GRIP to your Crochet Slipper socks. You could use a glue gun and put strips along the sole of the slipper, or I have also seen people use puff paint on the soles to make them less slippy and I do believe you can buy leather soles and glue them onto the bottom of the slippers however I have never done this. 

You can use ANY size yarn and crochet hook size that is compatible JUST follow the measurements I have provided!! (please adjust the size of the hook, if needed I crochet extremely loosely) 

Abbreviations used in the Crochet Pattern for the Slippers (US TERMS) : 

Stitches and terms used in the Slipper Pattern are Written in US terms 

HDC  - half double crochet stitches 
ch - Chain
slst, slip stitch to join
rnd - round 

Materials Used to Crochet the Slippers

Yarn: I usually use Aran Worsted Weight Yarn 
HOOK -  5.00 mm hook  OR 2 strands of DK (8wpi) acrylic Yarn HELD together and a 5.00 mm hook (Makes for a size 6-7)  

START at TOE 

Rnd 1: Ch3, and work 6HDC into the FIRST chain, Slip to join (6sts)
slip to join the round

Rnd 2: Starting in the Base of ch2, work 2HDC in each stitch around slip to join round(12)

Rnd 3: Ch2, 1HDC in the base of ch2, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next) slip to join round (18sts)

(check YOUR crochet circle Diameter (ACROSS) Measurement - HERE) 

Rnd 4: Ch2, HDC in base of Ch2 and in in Each Stitch around,
Make 1 extra stitch in the round by working hdc INTO the Slip stitch space of the previous round, slip to join, (19sts)

Rnd 5: Ch2, HDC in base of Ch2 and in in Each Stitch around,
Make 1 extra stitch in the round by working hdc INTO the Slip stitch space of the previous round, slip to join, (20sts)

Rnd 6 to Rnd 16:OR until INSTEP measurement Reached - Size 6 = 6.75 inches  

Ch2, HDC in the base of Ch2 and in Each Stitch around, Make 1 extra stitch in the round by working hdc INTO the Slip stitch space of the, joining stitch of each round. 

(OR continue until crochet work is heel LENGTH MINUS the HEEL measurement ) 

(This fits perfectly over my toes along my foot and stops just before my ankle - see the image above) )
NOW We are creating the HEEL part of your sock/slipper and You will now be working in ROWS. 

Turning and working back and Forth (HEEL)  

HEEL: Row 1: Ch2, HDC in the base of ch2, HDC in each stitch until 10 sts remaining.  (leave these 10 Stitches unworked,) TURN. Ch2 

Row 2 to  Row 6: Ch2, HDC in base of ch2, HDC in each st to last, TURN

THe Crochet Slipper HEEL Assembly 

To create the ankle and leg portion of the crochet slipper boot, start by working around all the stitches on the ankle opening, including the side stitches of the heel rows. 
Holding the FIRST (A) and LAST (B ) stitches of  Row. FOLD the HEEL part in HALF. 

(The hole created is the Back heel seam is sewn together and creates the back edge of the heel towards the ankle) 

ANKLE ROW 1: Join the yarn at the back heel seam with a sl st and work EVENLY around the opening for the foot, (I had 24 hdc stitches) Hdc evenly around, including working into the side of the heel stitches, slip st to join to first stitch

ANKLE Row 2. Hdc in each stitch around, FASTEN OFF, and using the long tail sew down the seam at the back of the heel 

Repeat all of the above for your second slipper. 

Alternative ANKLE ROW 2: You can work a few rounds here in a front post double crochet, ( FPDC) and alternative back post double crochet (BPDC ) to create a ribbing along the ankle top of the make a pair of slippers.
