I was asked if I would consider making a bigger pattern for the popular Baby Bear Newborn Cardigan . Probably it is such a popular  crochet baby cardigan pattern because its so easy.  The readers request was to use Double Knit Yarn and a 3.5mm hook. to make a simple baby cardigan, suitable for a boy or a girl.  T\he simple method of working top-down means it is a very beginner friendly introduction to making baby clothes. I honestly do not make cardigans or sweaters any other way now.   Of course designing a whole new sized item takes time, lots of trials and errors, and a few times ripping it out. My designing process is not really straightforward, I work backward from finished measurements. I am sure there is an easier way however I like to fiddle around and, well basically just do it my way. My great aunt came to visit us, she is 95 and every year she says this is my last year.... she just gets on a PLANE and fly's up to Scotland for her weeks holiday. She really is amazing, I wanted to make her something special for her birthday as it fell on her visit, I found this beautiful vintage antique pattern and thought how awesome it would be to make it for my Aunt. The shawl can be used as a lap blanket or a shawl, the stitches mean it is not a heavy piece, and sits snugly onto my aunt making her feel very cosy but not too suffocated as some of the more modern blankets make her feel, and obviously still able to move her hands and arms freely whilst keeping her neck and top of her shoulders warm.
