Have you looked longingly at some of the pretty free vintage crochet baby dress patterns and think if only you could make one? Do you want to crochet a dress but think it too advanced for a beginner like you? Think again. My Friend Bev has just taken that leap from beginner to a more advanced crochet project. And completed the most gorgeous little crochet baby dress pattern, and
I m delighted she agreed to share with us how she found a more advanced pattern,  after only being able to crochet the basics, hats, squares, afghans etc, hopefully also giving you a little boost of confidence that you too could crochet a little dress, and not be put off by trying something a little more advanced.
I am thrilled that Bev has taken up crocheting in her spare time again.
 I asked if she would share her journey on how she has progressed from a beginner to something a little more advanced.

How to Crochet a Bird Pattern {Free Crochet Bird Pattern)

A Crochet Bird Tutorial by LisaAuch

crochet bird pattern-free crochet pattern for a bird-bird wings
When a dear friend of mine from Winged Friends asked me If I had or knew of where she could find crochet bird patterns, little did I know what journey I would go on. I searched high and low for a general bird pattern, after several attempts at some patterns I decided there was indeed a need for me to create my very own bird crochet pattern.

       The pattern is very flexible and I have used different yarns and hook sizes 2.50mm-3.05mm UK /
C or D US,  each giving an excellent finish. Just remember not to use too large a
hook or you will end up with holes and see the stuffing through your stitches.

My Niece loves Giraffes and so do I. I also love to crochet giraffes, and I am asked all the time for Giraffe themed toys and baby sets.  I love this pattern and was originally put off as I thought the color change may be difficult! Then someone in a group made it and said to get a sucessful neat join of the two colors "chain one then grab my new colour and chain one then I pull both strings tight so u barely see the knot then I continue working in new color!" IT WORKS! love it!

Free Crochet Pattern for a Tiny Teddy - Baby Bear Heart (Free amigurumi Patterns)

free crochet pattern for a tiny teddy bear- free amigurumi pattern-free crochet patterns toys
This little amigurumi tiny crochet teddy bear is just adorable, making him the perfect crochet project to make for your Valentine. at Any time of the year.  I loved making him and quickly jotted down the pattern so I could share it with you.  Baby Bear Heart is what I eventually called this little creation who stands 4  inches tall.
Or he could be smaller if you use thinner yarn and a smaller hook, making him perfect for making as a keychain charm
Working with yarn in this way is fun, and you can become very creative,  but it can be tricky, so you should be capable of working with tight stitches and in small rounds.  I also suggest learning magic circle, and invisible decreasing. I have also made this for a friend who wanted to tell their hubby they were expecting a little girl, and asked me to crochet a small grey teddy with a pink heart!  so cute... I will be making a whole load of these to make and sell for the craft fairs I bet they would go like hot cakes. Great stash busting project, and you could change colour for his middle bit, or even stripes! Tiny ted is a really quick project to make too.

Free Crochet Baby Blanket Patterns

crochet baby blanket pattern-crochet baby hat pattern Easy Baby Blanket and Baby Hat Set {Free Crochet Pattern} My friends have just had baby Boys! and I was looing for nice crochet pram blanket,  and matching crochet hat set. To make as a gift, I found lots of beautiful girly ones, but  I struggled to find boyish blankets. I  wanted to make sure that it was cosy but also looked like modern for them. I love how easily this stitch works up using combinations of  (sk 1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next sc}
It  also gives this blanket a cosy texture.
I used a wool arran, with cotton mix
(I was given the wool so I am unsure of its actual make.)

However I would  say its Arran /worsted weight. It you are using a lighter wool make sure you follow the size guidelines. And I would recommend lining it, with a cosy fleece.

I used a very soft cotton wool mix blend Aran (worsted weight)
And a 4.00mm Hook

Gauge on a blanket with a pattern stitch is not so important. I go by measurements.  IF you have not been given measurements then a good rule of thumb for making a pram cover or blanket is
Baby Pram cover or Blanket size.

 W75cm x L100cm - 30 inches x 39 inches .

Ch 101 Loosely.  (or until desired width is achieved)

Row 1:  2 sc in 3rd ch from hook. (Sk next ch, 2 sc in next ch) across to end,  turn — 100 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, sk first sc, 2 sc in next sc (sk 1 sc, 2 sc in next sc) across to end,  turn — 100 sts.

Repeat Row 2 until blanket is 30 inches. (or desired length)

Edging:
Round 1: Ch 1, dc in each dc across to end of row,  work 3 dc in  last stitch {corner turn) dc evenly across left edge. 3 dc in last stitch {corner turn}
 Dc in bottom loop of each ch across to end, 3 sc in last loop {corner}
Dc evenly across last edge to end, 3 more dc in last sp; join with sl st to first dc of rnd  {corner}

Rd 2: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch-1 sp). (Sk 1 sc, 5dc in next sc, ch 1) across to corner.
(2Dc in same sc, ch 1) 2 times more (corner turned). Repeat around for next three sides of blanket, only repeating last (dc in same sc, ch1) one time in last corner.
Join with sl st to 3 rd ch of 1 st ch-4.
 Fasten off.
To finish,  you can weave a ribbon of your chosen colour through the Dc round of blanket edge.

FREE Crochet C2C Baby Blanket Pattern A Free Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern

FREE Crochet Pattern-Baby Blanket-Textured crrochet stitches-Balnket Pattern with the Corner to Corner Stitch Free baby blanket Crochet Pattern. Beautiful Textured Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern with the Corner to Corner Stitch. If you are looking for a Beautiful Textured Crochet Blanket Pattern, to create a vintage looking pram or cot blanket then why not try the very easy Corner to Corner Stitch. The Diagonal blocks make a stunning effect.
I made this pram blanket for a friend and it was my first attempt at the C2C. I found I need the WRitten Pattern for the C2C but I have also included a handy video from @The Crochet Crowd.
 If like me you get a bit bored with bigger projects, this is perfect. As when you get halfway you start decreasing the stitches and before you know it your finished the blanket.

Please READ through all this pattern before commencing. I have tried to write it out so it is easy if this is your first attempt at a Corner to Corner.

Once you master the sides, and making the first blocks of the rows then the rest whips up really easily. Watch the video to see how to do this easy diagonal stitch.

To make my Vintage Style Baby Blanket
I followed this Corner to Corner pattern here (I chose 1 main color,)

FREE written Crochet Pattern for the Corner to Corner stitch
I used a 4.00mm hook 4 x 100 gram balls of Double Knit Yarn = worsted)

ch 6.
Row 1 (Right Side):
Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch
turn {1 block made}
Row 2:
Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch, (slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch-3 space of previous row
turn {2 blocks made}

Row 3:
Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch, [(slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch-3 space of previous row] twice; turn  {3 blocks made}
Row 4:
Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch, [(slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch-3 space of previous row]3 times turn  {4 blocks made}.
Continue working like this, 5 blocks, 6 blocks, 7 blocks......keep increasing 1 block on each row until there are 34 blocks across (or as WIDE as you want the blanket to be)

free crochet patterns-baby blanket-baby crochet patterns

When you have reached your desired length. to make rectangle you are ONLY going to increase on one side this is to make the width now stay the same and the length grow.
Continue working with increasing 1 block ONLY on one side. At the width side we are not increasing, continue Increasing Right Side of Work by working the 6 chain. combination.
when we get to the end of the round we will slip st across first 3 dc, {(slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) =DECREASE} all in next ch-3 space of previous row;
work in blocks along to the end of work.

Continue making increase until your happy with your length (I made 42 blocks length wise for Pram Blanket in Picture)
Now work in
decreasing
rows as follows: slip st across first 3 dc, * (slip st, ch 3,3 dc) all in next ch-3 space of previous row; repeat from *to last ch-3 space; slip st in last space;
turn
do NOT make any further blocks WORKING (slip stitch, chains 3dc) at EACH ends from now on,

The work now get easier as you are decreasing at both sides now until
1 block remains.
Fasten off.

Border:
You can choose any border you like to finish off this blanket,
Round 1
Join Yarn and Chain3.
I worked in Double Crochet around the full width and length with 3DC in each corner. So I could thread Ribbon through the blanket.
And the last round was
(SC, Dc in same stitch Chain3, skip 1) continue working this around, Fasten off and finish blanket
As it is a Pram Blanket I like to wash first and block.
then with Ribbon by threading through the posts of every second DC of previous round.
