FREE Crochet Patterns for Girls (child sizes) Modern crochet Patters for Kids Sweaters, tunics, cardigans and Tops

I wanted a page where I could keep all my favourite Free Crochet Patterns for children, suitable for slightly older girls,  my nieces are growing fast so I was looking for bigger sized crochet patterns to fit them.  I found it difficult to find good quality FREE crochet patterns, for slightly older girls, and I was asked all the time for patterns for this age group.

You told us you wanted free crochet patterns which were still a bit girly, modern, fashionable and totally cute, and something they would actually wear.
If you make one of these sweater we would love to see your finished item you can post it on our Facebook Group Free Crochet Patterns and Designs

This is brilliant. Such an enjoyable crochet project. I love simplicity of this crochet pattern.   BUT please NOTE: this is not a beginners pattern,  .  I would like to think if you have mastered simple pieces increasing and decreasing, you will find this a very easy project.  It is made in basic shaped pieces and then sewn together.
You should have experience in shaping for pieces front and back and neck edges. I have already answered many questions in the comments section please read through the WHOLE pattern before commencing.

This can be made for a boy or a girl, but really the pattern gives it a really cosy texture and my niece loves her son wearing this hooded cardigan whilst out and about.

Mark fronts and back 4 1/2", (5", 5 1/2") down the seams. Place centre of sleeve tops at shoulder

Sew neatly along sides and sleeve arms.

Sew Hood seam down the back. Sew Hood along neck from edge to edge.(you will find the hood is bigger when laid out than the actual neck line (along back, down shoulder, and along front)
Make sure you find back centre
of neck edge and sew the hood into place, sometimes 2 stitches  of the neck edge to the 1 stitch of the hood, this gives a bulk shaping to the back of the hood for fitting head shape. )

Easy Baby Crochet Cardigan Sweater Patterns - (Newborn -3 months) Baby Bear Cardigan

Baby Bear Crochet Cardigan Pattern
free baby crochet patterns0 easy crochet cardigan pattern for baby-baby crochet patterns-free crochet patterns-crochet cardigan
I must admit this is one of the cutest crochet cardigans for a baby boy I have made.  And the Pattern is so easy to adjust to get a different look for your baby sweater jacket.  I like the off set front, this is because some baby cardigans can become wet under the chin  from dribbling, this smoother edge under the chin ensures this area is nice and soft for baby's chin.
With no annoying buttons or buttons holes being wet and irritating their  delicate skin at feeding times.
Cardigan is worked from the neck down, from the yoke in one piece.
I also only used I x Ball of 100g Cygnet Aran used for this project.
Finished chest size is 18inches around. (0-3 months)
(I have also made this using (Red Heart Lisa Cream DK ) with a 3.5mm hook, finished Chest size is 16 inches around  (Newborn).
