How to Crochet The Star Stitch and Crochet a Warm Cosy Blanket

I came across a pattern for a baby blanket using the "star stitch" not only had I never heard of this crochet stitch before, but I had never tried it. SO I taught myself a new stitch.  The star stitch is also known (as I have since found out and hence probably why I haven't heard of it before) the Margarite stitch, daisy stitch, and star stitch.   Very easy to pick up and not only makes a beautiful stitch and pattern, it is lovely to work,

And completed the most gorgeous little crochet baby dress pattern, and I m delighted she agreed to share with us how she found a more advanced pattern,  after only being able to crochet the basics, hats, squares, afghans etc, hopefully also giving you a little boost of confidence that you too could crochet a little dress, and not be put off by trying something a little more advanced.  I am thrilled that Bev has taken up crocheting in her spare time again.    I asked if she would share her journey on how she has progressed from a beginner to something a little more advanced.

How to Crochet a Bird Pattern {Free Crochet Bird Pattern)

A Crochet Bird Tutorial by LisaAuch When a dear friend of mine from Winged Friends asked me If I had or knew of where she could find crochet bird patterns, little did I know what journey I would go on. I searched high and low for a general bird pattern, after several attempts at some patterns I decided there was indeed a need for me to create my very own bird crochet pattern.          The pattern is very flexible and I have used different yarns and hook sizes 2.50mm-3.05mm UK / C or D US,  each giving an excellent finish. Just remember not to use too large a hook or you will end up with holes and see the stuffing through your stitches.

Crochet Stitches How to crochet Loops {The Loop or Fur Stitch tutorial}

Also includes Free crochet patterns that use th eloops stitch. I  wanted to learn how to crochet loops, after someone asked me for a crochet cardigan for baby made with the loops stitch. I had only ever seen a really nice pattern for booties, their cuff made up of these wonderful loops.  I thought there was no way I was going to be able to do it. After a few trys I got the hang of it really easily. You are just pulling an extra length around your hook/finger before you crochet your stitch.  I had seen several ways to make this stitch and it really is personal preference, Some show you to use a piece of card to loop the yarn around, or a ruler. I personally just prefer using my finger...The main trouble then is getting all the loops the same size, so if uneven loops become an issue to you then perhaps using the cardboard method is a better technique for you to create more even loops. To practice this stitch I Chained 22 1. Begin with a row of single crochet.(sc) For learning

Baby Bear Cardigan An Easy Baby Crochet Cardigan Sweater Pattern (Newborn -3 months)

Baby Bear Crochet Cardigan Pattern I must admit this is one of the cutest crochet cardigans for a baby boy I have made.  And the Pattern is so easy to adjust to get a different look for your baby sweater jacket.   I like the button being offset at the front, this is because some baby cardigans can become wet under the chin from dribbling, this smoother edge ensures this area is nice and soft for baby's chin and no buttons rubbing.  Cardigan is worked from the neck down, from the yoke in one piece. I used 1 x Ball of 100g Cygnet Aran  used for this project. USING A 4.00mm hook I achieved a  finished chest size of 17inches around. (0-3 months) Alternative hooks and yarn ideas I have used to make this pattern I have also made this using ( REdHart Cream Aran) with a 3.5mm hook, finished Chest size is 17 inches around  (Newborn) A 4.50mm hook and James C brett Double Knit Gave me Chest size is 17 inches around  (Newborn) Click HERE to BUY an Ad free copy of this

I just love the vintage Shabby decor effect these gorgeous crochet pillows or cushion covers have. They are so simple and easy to crochet. that even if you are a beginner crochet student, following a simple Granny Square crochet pattern you can make this up in no time. TO finish I made extra crochet flowers, to attach to the seam corners, to keep them tidy. I crocheted 5 granny Squares with a border of 4 rounds worked into the back loop only. And 4 granny Squares with a crochet flower in the middle. Very easy to crochet  This is a relatively easy way to crochet the flower into the Granny Square Joining the Squares is relatively easy. position them as you want the pattern to follow and then join together into the Square. I used a cream pillowcase folded to the correct size of joined squares, and attached to the right side of the pillow, this makes an easy slip over for the cushion padding. Newborn Baby Crochet Hat Pattern Perfect Crochet Hat for Donating to Hospitals

This newborn crochet hat is perfect for babies just coming out of the hospital or making a few baby hats in varying colors and donating them to your local hospital.  Newborn Babies can lose heat really quickly straight after birth so they require warm hats immediately to help keep them warm and cozy.  If they lose heat too quickly after being born they can become quite unwell.  Please check with your local maternity unit on what colors they may need, as some units run a traffic light system and are a fantastic visual aid for the midwives to easily identify babies that may need a little more help and attention in the first few hours.  RED -   red hats are used for babies who are more at risk and require more regular observations.  AMBER hats - require just a little bit more attention.  GREEN Hats - lower risk babies and only require routine observations as they are healthy and a good weight.  (Please check with the labor Delivery suite midwives if donations are being taken at this tim
