Merry Xmas and A Happy New Year

free crochet patterns-crochet patterns free

I really have had a great year bit of a rollercoaster, despite problems with my health and everything in between. Fantastic support for my hobby crochet, and the fact I can share it all with those who are just as passionate about Crochet makes it all the more enjoyable for me and keeps me going.

I feel little crochet Elf on his Wrecking Ball is how I felt this year, and going into next year feeling positive and ready for what ever is ahead.

Thank You to every one, I wanted to name people but I just cant...I would be so scared to leave anyone out. But those of you who know me, know how much I really DO appreciate you and your support, guidance, and help...(typo anyone ;)

From  the land of Squid Friends, my Fellow Crochet Bloggers, to my Facebook page to each and every one of the many of my online networking Friends.
Ya kept me sane!  While we battled Pandas and Penguins, and whatever else was thrown our way.

2013 I really have made a life change and I look forward to what 2014 brings for us all.

Merry Xmas and wishing you all a very Happy Prosperous New Year.

Crochet Stitches How to crochet Loops {The Loop or Fur Stitch tutorial}

Crochet Stitches- How to crochet Loops -Free Crochet Patterns
Also includes Free crochet patterns that use th eloops stitch. I  wanted to learn how to crochet loops, after someone asked me for a crochet cardigan for baby made with the loops stitch. I had only ever seen a really nice pattern for booties, their cuff made up of these wonderful loops.
I thought there was no way I was going to be able to do it. After a few trys I got the hang of it really easily.
You are just pulling an extra length around your hook/finger before you crochet your stitch.
I had seen several ways to make this stitch and it really is personal preference, Some show you to use a piece of card to loop the yarn around, or a ruler. I personally just prefer using my finger...The main trouble then is getting all the loops the same size, so if uneven loops become an issue to you then perhaps using the cardboard method is a better technique for you to create more even loops.

To practice this stitch I Chained 22
1. Begin with a row of single crochet.(sc) For learning I found it easier to use Single crochet (US) DC (UK)

2. Turn Chain 1 Work 1sc and then insert your hook into the next stitch.

3. With the Yarn over your finger, hold it out high (to your desired length of loop)
Catch the base of the strand at the back of your finger, draw it through the stitch.

4. Catch the base of the back strand again and draw it through the 2 loops

5. Take your finger out of the loop and insert the hook into  the next stitch, ready to repeat the process.

Unless you want loops to appear on both sides of your work, make the next row from your basic stitch you are using I was using SC for this tester.

The loops can  actually be CUT, , as they will not pull out, This is also an excellent project to use fluffy yarn.

Crochet Stitches How to crochet Loops-free crochet patterns
Special note: IF you are going to be joining worked pieces make sure you keep 1 or 2 stitches at the edges without loops.
Watch this video to see how the loop stitch is made.

Now your ready for some loopy Free crochet Patterns

I love these!

I LOVE this little baby cardigan made with loop stitch. It is worked up easily from the neck/yoke down and fits perfectly.

Baby Bear Cardigan An Easy Baby Crochet Cardigan Sweater Pattern (Newborn -3 months)

free baby crochet patterns easy crochet cardigan pattern for baby-baby crochet patterns-free crochet patterns-crochet cardigan
Baby Bear Crochet Cardigan Pattern
I must admit this is one of the cutest crochet cardigans for a baby boy I have made.  And the Pattern is so easy to adjust to get a different look for your baby sweater jacket.

I like the button being offset at the front, this is because some baby cardigans can become wet under the chin from dribbling, this smoother edge ensures this area is nice and soft for baby's chin and no buttons rubbing.

Cardigan is worked from the neck down, from the yoke in one piece.

I used 1 x Ball of 100g Cygnet Aran  used for this project.
USING A 4.00mm hook I achieved a  finished chest size of 17inches around. (0-3 months)

Alternative hooks and yarn ideas I have used to make this pattern

I have also made this using ( REdHart Cream Aran) with a 3.5mm hook, finished Chest size is 17 inches around  (Newborn)
A 4.50mm hook and James C brett Double Knit Gave me Chest size is 17 inches around  (Newborn)

Beautiful Free Crochet Pillow Pattern with Crochet Flowers

easy crochet pillow pattern-crochet pillow with flowers-
I just love the vintage Shabby decor effect these gorgeous crochet pillows or cushion covers have.
They are so simple and easy to crochet. that even if you are a beginner crochet student, following a simple Granny Square crochet pattern you can make this up in no time.

TO finish I made extra crochet flowers, to attach to the seam corners, to keep them tidy.

I crocheted 5 granny Squares with a border of 4 rounds worked into the back loop only.

And 4 granny Squares with a crochet flower in the middle.
Very easy to crochet

easy crochet pillow pattern-crochet pillow with flowers-Free Crochet PatternA great how to crochet the Granny Squares tutorial can be found here.
how to Crochet Granny Squares

and for the Granny Square with flower in the middle was taken from a pattern from the The Granny Square Book available to Buy from most online outlets

This is a relatively easy way to crochet the flower into the Granny Square

Free Crochet Pattern for granny square with flower

Joining the Squares is relatively easy. position them as you want the pattern to follow and then join together into the Square.

I used a cream pillowcase folded to the correct size of joined squares, and attached to the right side of the pillow, this makes an easy slip over for the cushion padding.
