Free crochet baby hat pattern, this is a delightful little baby hat, and so easy to make . I actually made the one in the picture in less than an hour start to finish, and made it slightly smaller for a little girl.

This pattern Fits age 3-6 months
Materials: Hook size J, 1 ball of Baby Soft Yarn

A free crochet pattern that is so easy to make and always a favorite quick to make an extra gift for Baby. These baby hats are ideal for keeping the baby's head warm and cozy. 
They are light enough for newborns. 

This free baby beanie crochet hat pattern comes in 3 Sizes, as I found with my grandson he grew out of his newborn size so quickly but my daughter loved the cosy style of these hats for him.

Follow the basic pattern for sizes for newborn, 3 months and 6 months

Using a 4.00mm hook (You MAY need to go up a hook size to a 4.500mm  to achieve correct sizing) 
 I crochet extremely loosley

I used Cygnet Double Knit Yarn

Pattern is written in US crochet terms  

(sizes of Baby Hat) newborn, 3 months, 6 months. 


BASIC Baby HAT Crochet Pattern  for Newborn   (crown diameter = 3.82 inches)

Start by making a magic circle, or chain3 and start in the first chain

Round 1: Ch 2, 14 DC in magic circle (14)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 DC in each st around (28)

Round 3: Ch 2, *2 DC, DC, repeat from * around (42)

Rounds 4 to Rnd 10:  Ch 2, DC around (42)

Tie off and weave in ends. (42)


BASIC Baby HAT Crochet Pattern  for 3 months  (crown diameter should be 4.45 inches) 

Start by making a magic circle, or chain3 and start in first chain

Round 1: Ch 2, 16 DC in magic circle (15)

Round 2: Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2, 2 DC in each st around (30)

Round 3: Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2, *2 DC, DC, repeat from * * around (45)

Rounds 4 to Rnd 10: Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2, DC in each st around (45)

Tie off and weave in ends. (45)


BASIC Baby HAT Crochet Pattern 3-6 months (crown diameter = 4.77 inches)


Start by making a magic circle, or chain3 and start in first chain

Round 1: Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2, 16 DC in magic circle (16)

Round 2: Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2, 2 DC in each st around (32)

Round 3: Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2,*2 DC, DC*  repeat * * around (48)

Round 4: Ch2, work 2DC in the BASE of the Ch2, DC in nxt 23 sts, 
2DC in nxt st, DC in each st around (50)

Round 5: to Round 11 : Ch 2, Starting in the BASE of the Ch2, DC in each st around (50)

Tie off and weave in ends. (50)

Finish  For a boy,
 work a single crochet, reverse single crochet or CH 2, Slip Stitch in next stitch around for trim. 

Finish For a girl, 
work CH 3, Slip Stitch in next stitch around for trim.  Join and fasten off -- weave in ends 

How to make an easy cute PomPom

Wrap wool around 3 fingers until thickness required for puffy fluffy pompom, holding all the yarn together, slide off your fingers (I usually get my hubby to help here) 
Tie tightly around the middle with yarn,(leave a long tail to attach to the hat! 
Cut folded edges, and puff out the pom shape. 
Attach with a length of yarn securely to the hat
