Simple Crochet Baby Hat Booties and Diaper Cover Set (Free Patterns)

Crochet this adorably cute Halloween Baby photo prop Set which includes a Baby hat crochet pattern, booties crochet pattern, and diaper cover pattern!

I was asked by a customer to crochet a little baby set for Halloween. 
The brief was a simple and fun crochet baby outfit to take along for a Halloween photoshoot. 


I have a few baby hat and booties sets available on my website and although i also had a diaper cover with ruffles on the bottom part-  HERE

For this little one, we wanted a Tie front diaper cover, a basic crochet baby hat, and booties to fit the photographer's pumpkin Halloween theme. 

Easy Crochet Baby Diaper Pattern 

SIZE of Diaper: The 0-3 months Baby's Waist is approximately 16 inches around. The diaper cover is crocheted all in one piece (see Pic Below)

ch 50 +1 (ch 51)

Row 1: sc into the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in each st across. Ch2, TURN (50sts)

Row 2: DC into the base of chain 2 and DC in each stitch across, ch1 TURN (50 sts)

Row 3: sc into each st across, (50sts) FASTEN OFF.

Row 4: Turn Work and Count 11 sts IN and join yarn in the 12th stitch. DC into the next 28 sts. Ch1 TURN

Row 5: sc in first st, 2sc together (decrease), sc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sc-together (decrease), sc into the last st. Ch2, TURN (26sts)

Row 6: dc in first st, 2dc together (decrease), DC into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sc- together (decrease), dc into the last st. Ch1 TURN (24 sts)

Row 7: sc in first st, 2sc together (decrease), SC into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sc-together (decrease), sc into the last st. Ch2, TURN (22sts)

Row 8: dc in first st, 2dc together (decrease), DC into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sc-together (decrease), dc into the last st. Ch1 TURN (20sts)

Row 9: Ch1, sc in first st, 2sc together (decreace), sc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sctogether (decreace), sc into the last st. Ch2, TURN (18sts)

Row 10: dc in first st, 2dc together (decrease), dc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sctogether (decrease), dc into the last st. Ch1 TURN (16sts)

Row 11: Ch1, sc in first st, 2sc together (decrease), sc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sctogether (decrease), sc into the last st. Ch2, (14sts) TURN

Row 15 to Row 18: Hdc in Each stitch, Ch2, TURN

Row 19: dc in first st, 2dc in next st (increase), dc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2dc in next st (increase), sc into the last st. Ch 1, TURN (10sts)

Row 20: sc in first st, 2sc in next st (increase), dc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sc in next st (increase), dc into the last st. Ch2 TURN (12sts)

Row 21: dc in first st, 2dc in next st (increase), dc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2dc in next st (increase), sc into the last st. Ch 1, TURN (14sts)

Row 22: sc in first st, 2sc in next st (increase), dc into each stitch across until the last 3 sts, 2sc in next st (increase), dc into the last st. Ch2 TURN (16sts)

Row 29: Dc into each st across (28sts)

Row 30: Sc into each st across (28sts)

FASTEN OFF

Diaper BORDER instructions:

The border is worked around the outside edge of the diaper cover. using a (slst, ch1), in each stitch around, at the corners work (slst, ch1, slst) in SAME corner space to turn a corner.

Crochet Baby Diaper Pattern Easy Free Pattern

NOTE: When you reach the Double Crochet ROW of 2, Chain 26, to create the first tie, slip stitch BACK along the chain just made and, slst back into the SAME space continue working the (Ch1, slst) border along the TOP of the Cover, and REPEAT at opposite side for 2nd tie,

BORDER Rnd 1: Join Yarn in any space. *Ch1, slst* Repeat around, Remeber to make the ch26 TIES 

Baby Hat Crochet Pattern to Fit 0-3 months Baby

Easy crochet baby hat pattern FREE

  • The hat crown diameter will measure approximately 4.75'
  • Hats Circumference will measure 14-15 ' inches approx
  • Hats Height 5.5 inches Approx

NOTE: Slip to join and TURN your work at the end of each round

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 12 DC in circle, slip to join.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, *2 SC in each ST* repeat ** around, slip to join.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, *1 DC in next ST, 2 DC in next ST,* repeat ** around, slip to join.(36sts)

Rnd 4: Ch1, SC in first 2 stitches, 2sc in next* repeat ** around, slip to join) (48sts)

Rnd 5: Ch3,*1 DC in first 8 sts, 2DC in next ST*, repeat *to * around, until last remaining sts, dc to the last st, slip to join, (53st) 

 CHECK YOUR SIZE OF HAT HERE - Measure across the DIAMETER (across the center) of the hat here = approx 4.75inches

Rnd 6: Ch1, SC in each stitch around, slip st to join, TURN

Rnd 7: Ch3, DC in each stitch around, slip st to join, TURN

Rnd 8: Ch1, SC in each stitch around, slip st to join, TURN

Rnd 9: Ch3, DC in each stitch around, slip st to join, TURN

Rnd 10: Ch1, SC in each stitch around, slip st to join, TURN

Rnd 11: Ch3, DC in each stitch around, slip st to join, TURN

Baby Pumpkin Crochet Booties Pattern Starts HERE

The booties are from an original pattern of mine and can be found HERE (Easy Quick Crochet Baby hat and booties set) and I have slightly modified them for the purposes of the little pumpkin set 

  • ch- Chain
  • hdc - Half Double Crochet
  • ext hdc2tog - Work 2 extended half double crochet together, (if you do not know how to then just make a normal HDC)
  • dc - double crochet
  • slst - Slip Stitch

Crochet Booties Pattern (Make 2)

Ch 10.

Rnd 1: Work 3 hdc in 3rd ch from the hook, 1 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, 6 hdc in the last chain. (Pull tight to close ) working back along the opposite side of the chain sts just worked, 1 hdc in each of the next 6 stitches, 3 hdc in the last chain. sl st to the top of the 3rd ch at the start of the row. (24)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the base of starting ch (Counts as 2 hdc in the first space) 2 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, 2 hdc in each of the last three stitches. Sl st to top of ch at the start. (36)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 1 sc all around in back loops only, Sl st to 1st top of chain to close. (36)

Rnd 4: Ch 1. Make the First stitch into the BASE of the Chain, 1 sc in the next 12 sts, ext-hdc2tog 7 times over the next 14 sts, 1 sc in the next 10 sts, Slst to ch to close. (29)

Rnd 5: Ch 2, 1 hdc in next 10 stitches, ext-hdc2tog (TWICE) 2dc2tog (TWICE), ext- hdc2tog (TWICE), 1 hdc in next 7 sts. Sl st to ch to close. (23)

Rnd 6: Ch 1. 1 sc in next 9 stitches, ext-hdc2tog, dc2tog (TWICE), ext- hdc2tog, 1 sc in next 6sts.Sl st close. (19)

Rnd 7: Ch 1, 1 sc all around, slip stitch to join. (19 sts)

Rnd 8: Ch 1, 1 sc all around, slip stitch to join. (19 sts)

Rnd 9: Ch 1, 1 sc all around, slip stitch to join. (19 sts)

FASTEN OFF and join GREEN HERE

Rnd 10: Ch1, *slip st into next st, ch1* Repeat from * to * around slipping into ch1 at the start to finish. 

Fasten off and weave in all ends neatly.
