Well, I have the perfect no-sew crochet pattern just for you. But credit to my grandson who asked me if I could make him a Chicken with a chick for his easter (and a Tractor- Pattern will be released at a later date)
The Pattern to crochet the chicken is very simple and Easy to follow. When you come to Stuff the chicken make sure you add enough stuffing to shape the chicken
This is a great alternative easter gift idea to crochet for kids and adults alike!
YOu will need some stuffing and some safety eyes (use the pictures as guides to help with placement
Do not join, work in continuous rounds, and move the stitch marker at the end of each round.
I have added in how to make the chick with NO Sewing! just follow these simple directions
Abbreviations: US TERMS
Ch- chain
St – stitch
Sc – single crochet
*To* repeat around
work 3dctog - work 3 double crochet together
Rnd 1: Ch2, make 7 Sc into the first Chain (7sts)
Rnd 2: 2Sc in each stitch, repeat * to * around (14sts)
Rnd 3: *2Sc into the next st, Sc into the next st* repeat * to * around (21sts)
Rnd 4: *2Sc into the next st, Sc into the next 2 sts,* repeat * to * around (28sts)
Rnd 5: *2Sc into the next st, Sc into the next 3 sts,* repeat * to * around (35sts)
Rnd 6: Sc in each stitch, repeat * to * around (35 sts)
Rnd 7: Sc in each stitch, repeat * to * around (35sts)
Rnd 8: 2sctog, Sc into the next st, repeat * to * around,
Rnd 9: *sc into the next st, 2sctog into the next* repeat a* to * around
STUFF HERE (stuff Fully and then Shaped as per pictures)
Rnd 10: 2sctog, and fasten off and weave in ends.
NO- SEW How to Crochet the Chick Wings
You will ADD the wings by joining your yarn directly onto the Chicken's sides.
Firstly mark each side with a marker to make sure the position of the wings is EVEN. (approx 11 stitches between them and Use the picture as a guide for placement)
Join the YARN by a Slip stitch through the marked stitch. Chain 3, work 3 dc together All into the SAME space. (work 3 dc stitches to before the last fasten off of each dc stitch, you will now have 4 LOOPS on your hook, YARN OVER on the main body.ch2, and slip st, into the same space to finish Fasten OFF.
Hook the loose ends and pull through to the bottom of the chick
Beak -
You can just thread a few strands of yarn across the front center 3 stitches or continue to crochet a little beak
Chain 4, 5dc into the first chain, slip to join.
Pull to close and attach to the body (Use Picture as a guide for placement)
Hens Crown
BEAK No SEW method: Inset red or colored yarn into the Very TOP center starting ROW,
*Chain 6, slst into the same space*, Repeat 3 TIMES, and fasten off.
Pull the end yarn down into the chicken to hide.
SEW on Beak: Chain 6
Working into the 4th chain from hook (counts as the first dc), work
*2dc, chain1, slip st all into the SAME space, chain3*
REPEAT into the last two chains
