Cute Crochet Snowman FREE PATTERN |
Even if you are a beginner at crochet, YOU will be able to make this crocheted Christmas snowman.
The Basic snowman is crocheted in a SQUARE, and the hat is a rectangle! absolute beginners at crochet CAN make this delightfully cute snowman.

Materials You will need to Crochet The Snowman
- 1x ball of white fluffy yarn
- 1x ball of double-knit yarn to work alongside the fluffy white yarn. Working the 2 strands together helps you to keep track of stitches.
- Odd yarn approx (25g) leftover for Hat and Scarf
- Fiber Fill
- Safety eyes, (or you can embroider the eyes and mouth )
Notes:
- For the purpose of making the Video and pictures, I used Aran weight and a 5.00mm hook so you could see the bits of the patterns better.
- The fluffy yarn was an oddball i found in a charity shop and knew it would make an awesome Snowman
- You are working in ROWS, with a slip stitch at the neck of the snowman.
Abbreviations:
- The pattern is written in US TERMS
- slst- Slip stitch
- sc - single Crochet
Using a 5.00 mm hook, ( 2 strands held together, If working in the fluffy yarn)
To Start the Snowman
Chain 34 to start
Row 1: in the 2nd chain from your hook sc, and in the next 13 sts, work sc, slst into the 15th st, Sc in the remaining 18 sts. Ch1 TURN
Row2: Sc in the next 18 sts, slst in next, sc in next 14sts, Ch1, TURN
Row 3: sc in the next 14sts, slst in next, Sc in the next 18 sts, Ch1, TURN
Repeat Row 2 to Row 3 Until you have worked 34 ROWS.
Fasten off Leaving a very Long tail (this length is to sew the bottom together and side seams, to tighten around the neck and fasten off the top of the snowman)
Making up the Snowman and how to assemble
- Taking the BOTTOM of the snowman (bottom of the 18 sts)
- weave your yarn in and out the stitches of ROW 1, and PULL to Tighten
- Sew the SIDE seam up to the neck.
- Stuff your snowman up to the neck,
- Weave yarn in and out AROUND the slip stitches and pull slightly to tighten (do not fully close) to make the snowman neck
- Continue working UP the Side Seam joining the sides.
- If you are adding Saftey Eyes position onto the Head before stuffing the snowman head into shape
and closing the top in the same way you weaved the yarn around the stitches at the bottom , and pull to close,
Fasten off and Weave in ends

Snowmans Hat. In an ARAN weight or chunky yarn
Make sure your chain length to start is long enough to cover the snowman head with a TURN UP -
I used Chain 23 to start
Row 1: Dc into the 4th chain from hook and dc in each stitch until end, Ch3 turn,
Row 2: Working INTO the Back Loops of each stitch, BLDc in each stitch along
Repeat Row 2 until your length will fit around the snowman's head.
Fold in half and sew short sides together, take the yarn and weave around the top of the sides of the stitches and Pull to close.
Fasten off and Weave in Ends.

How to make a Quick Small pom for your snowman.
How to make a small pom pom. EASY and Quick:
Wind yarn around your thumb and forefinger several times, secure around the middle, and cut the edges.
Fluff up the pom pom and trim as required
Snowman Scarf
Ensuring your chain is long enough to fit around the snowman's neck with extra to hang down.
Row 1: dc into the 4th chain from the hook, work dc in each stitch until end.
FASTEN OFF and weave in ends
Snowmans Nose
In Orange Yarn
Chain 4, work 4 Dc into the first chain from the hook and PULL to tighten.
Fasten off and weave in ends and secure to the snowman.
