Orca Crochet Pattern |
The orca is a quick easy crochet project and I can make several in one evening sitting while watching tv, is a fantastic yarn stash buster project, as you can just make the main body, side fins, and tail and you have made a crochet whale
The small crochet orca plushies sell like hot cakes at the craft fairs, and I make them in Double knit yarn and add a key ring to the fin.
Having recently moved to the northern coastline of the Scottish Highlands.
We have the privilege to watch the Orcas from land move freely in their own wild habitat.
The first time we saw the orcas in the sea it was really magical. It was so magical we never even managed to get pictures as we were so busy just spectating.
The most amazing thing was the size of their top fin (the Dorsal Fin) I suppose sadly we are so used to seeing them in captivity, that we expect to see the dorsal fin, bent over.
So it was amazing seeing the sheer size of the fin breaking up through the surface of the water.
I recently found out we have a local Orca watch group where fellow fanatics can share sightings and keep records.
When we first saw their distinctive black fins in the water, we managed to follow them along the coastline, in the car, and the kids loved watching and waiting for them to surface.
It was really magical. So I just knew I had to crochet a little orca plush toy and make a Crochet Orca keyring pattern for my niece and nephew to take home with them.
The Crochet Shark was the perfect gift for shark lovers for the upcoming Shark week.
Just change the colors to silver grey and white, or make in Aran weight with a 4mm hook and add a keychain to make the most adorable Shark Keyring.
