This is a beginner-friendly crochet pattern and makes it so easy to crochet a small teddy bear that will guide you to crochet your very first amigurumi teddy bear.

This Small crochet teddy made in soft plush type yarn sits at Just over 10 inches in height.

This crochet  Teddy pattern is a favourite of mine!

And was originally made as a gift for a friends daugther, as part of their easter baskets as an alternative to Chocolate and sweeies.

She took this little bear with her everywhere! And mum would send me pictures of her on her travels with TED2

Can a Beginner Crochet a Teddy Bear?

YES! EVEN If You are  beginner at crochet and you may have see seen  'how to crochet an amigurumi teddy bear' with strange looking patterns to make the crochet toys.

Well these abreviations and slightly different written crochet patterns, with their strange terminology used  DO not be put off by the terminology used in Amigurumi style patterns.

Amigurumi is simply put. The Japanese name given to the particular type and style of crochet to make stuffed toys and plush animals, usually using just single crochet and working in the round.

SO please do not be put off crocheting the little bear or attempting 'amigurumi' style patterns.

However I prefer to add more details to my pattern especially for people starting out on their crochet journey and perhaps looking to crochet their first plush toy.

This Blue crochet teddy is also an easy crochet teddy bear pattern, however This crochet teddy bear is actually a smaller variation of my Classic Classic Crochet teddy Bear - FREE Pattern.

Which is also a free crochet pattern on my website The original crocheted teddy would turn out much larger using this yarn!

And it was my friends daughter who is a little older but wanted a teddy bear to still hug and be comforted by.

Tips to help you Join as YOou Go

  1. Joining the Limbs as you go is actually really easy By Holding the  with the 2dctogether stitches facing FRONT
  2. FOLD leg in HALF, as you work the round position the teddy bear's legs equally apart, and single crochet THROUGH ALL the 2x sides and Body stitches, to attach and secure legs to the body piece
  3. Work in SAME way for Attatching the ARMS to the Body! Holding both pieces together lined up eaqually one each side! And work Through BOTH pieces

YARN: I used James C Brett Flutterby, (Pink Teddy) and Hymalayian Dolphin for the peach coloured teddy bear)

Crochet Hook - I used a 4.00 mm But you can change the hook size to suit your yarn!

To make your Teddy as un gappy as possible I prefer to use the YARN UNDER SINGLE CROCHET

just swap the usual Yarn Over in the single crochet stitch to catching the yarn UNDER your hook and drawing through to complete the Stitch .

Joining the HEAD to the Teddys Body

Once you have secured the Head to the body (I like to sew the head onto the body at Round 2)

Take time to place the EARS into place before Sewing. I used safety eyes here but you can embroider them on especially if it's for a little one. Safety first.

How do you make a teddy bear nose and mouth?

how to crochet teddy bear EASY for beginners, easy crochet teddy bear, small crochet teddy bear pattern, small teddy bear crochet pattern, easy crochet teddy bear, small crochet teddy bear pattern, small teddy bear crochet pattern,

This is completely up to you to freestyle however I prefer to use a dark yarn and start at the NOSE just above the muzzles in the first row and work a Triangle shape, sewing back and forth with the dark yarn until all filled in. (Try NOT to pull these stitches tightly as it will pull the features )

I then take the yarn slightly down and to the left pull through and then back UP to the middle, repeating for the opposite side of the mouth.

I THEN take the dark yarn and place small eyebrows to give the teddy some character.
