However you can go up a hook size to achieve the next size

Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc) Insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook.
Slip stitch (slip st) Insert the hook in the stitch indicated, yarn over, and draw through both the stitch and the loop on the hook.
For a larger hat, work 1 or 2 additional increase rows. Each increased row adds 6 sts to the circumference.
FREE Santa Hat Crochet Pattern 0- 3 months

RED, ch2.
Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6)
Round 2: sc in each stitch around (6)
Round 3: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Round 4: sc in each sc around (12)
Round 5: * Sc in next sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (18)
Rounds 6 and 7: sc in each sc around (18)
Round 8: * Sc in next 2 sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (24)
Round 9 and Round 10: sc in each sc around (24)

Using a Pompon maker or a piece of cardboard and WHITE, make a 1" pompon.
Attach pompom to point at top of Hat. I Like to fold the top over and attach it with a stitch (optional)
EasyCrochet Baby Santa Booties Pattern (FREE)
Probably the cutest thing ever are these gorgeous Santa booties, finished doff with a pom pom or a little sparkly bow.
Alternatively, you can just change to a thicker white fluffy yarn and single crochet around for a few rounds to finish.
The boot is made with a basic Baby booties crochet bootie pattern, which can be used to make snug little fitting booties, in any color at any time of the year.
Materials: I used a 4.00mm hook and baby double-knit yarn

Ch 10.
Sc in 2nd chain from hook, Work sc in nxt 7sts, Work 5sc in the last ch, working along the opposite side of the chain, work 7 sc in nxt 7 sts, 2sc in the last ch. (22)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2hdc in BASE of ch, hdc in next 7 sts, 2hdc in each of the next 5 sts, hdc in nxt 7sts, 2hdc in last 2 stitches. (30)
Round 3:Ch 2, 2hdc in the BASE of ch, hdc in next 12 sts, 2hdc the next 4 sts, hdc in nxt 12sts, 2hdc in last st. (36)
Round 4: hdc in each st around. (36)
