12 point Star Baby Blanket Pattern

Crochet blanket patterns that are suitable for little boys are actually quite rare to come by and I have been searching far and wide for something to make.

I was considering just winging it and picking a stitch from a stitch from my favourite book which has over 200 stitch patterns each one beautiful and unique to make a baby blanket with.  I Love this book it has lovely stitch patterns, afghan blocks, and lovely border patterns meaning you can mix and match and make endless unique crocheted blankets.

Yes, I have probably made a new pattern altogether, however it is important for me to also acknowledge how and where I got the inspiration from. And give credit to those.

Diamond Crochet Blanket ( Ultimate scrap-ghan Project)

The Ultimate Scrap Yarn Bursting Blanket Pattern.

diamond scrap yarn blanket crochet pattern
I actually started crocheting these diamonds one night, by sheer accident. But I soon realized I could use up all those little odds and ends of yarn, you know the little balls of leftover yarn that are too large to throw away yet not small enough to crochet any one particular thing.

This is one of these projects I have at the side and when I just want to mindlessly crochet for the sake of crocheting something, not needing too big a project, but just keep those hands busy.... ( yup we've all been there) what's great about this is, I never get bored sometimes even when I am working another project and get to the end of it, I see I have enough yarn left and quickly whip up another diamond piece. Any color, the only thing I do need to watch out for is the difference in yarn weight. If it is thicker I go down a hook or finer I go up a hook, but I mostly work in double knit or Aran so it's not too much of a problem.
Probably like a LOT of us, yarn-holics, I have boxes of small balls of yarn just sitting around in bags collecting dust. You know those ones you think you may need one day yet your yarn stash is just getting bigger and bigger.
I refuse point blank to throw away good yarn, so I wanted something I could make using these odds and ends of wool. BUT some of the leftover bits of yarn were not long enough for even an individual row to make a blanket, not even big enough to perhaps make into squares, so I wanted something that still would look attractive yet not all half-finished rows and join.
So Let me introduce the Diamond Crochet Blanket, perfectly symmetrical in its formation easy to make by simply increasing and then decreasing at the ends of your rows, this is an awesome way to use up those small scraps of yarn and those odds and ends that are just not enough to throw away, yet not big enough for another project.

It's nearing that time of year again when its time to think about gift ideas!
I swear I can't make enough of these as the men in my like also love these crochet slipper socks.
I don't play around too much with sizing as I found this one size just about fits all (Well apart from hubby and my Nephew! whose size 12! I just add one or 2 stitches more to the starting round and increase as per pattern) or like for my niece's tiny feet
I  went down a size in hook and yarn.

I am asked every year to make these crochet boot slippers, not only for the ladies in the family but my hubby loves his pair too.

Looks like Knit But its Crochet Warm Cosy Winter Hat (FREE Pattern)

A Beautiful Cosy Crochet Hat FREE Pattern

Being Warm at this time of year is essential. I find a lot of the basic crochet hats quite drafty. Here in South West Scotland winds are strong and it's chilly. SO I am always looking for a good thick warm hat. It makes it even better when its a fast, easy pattern.
Worked in Rows, using the amazing 3rd loop stitch of the HDC aka...Camel stitch.
Which makes this hat look like it's been knitted. But Its definitely crocheted.
