There are so many wonderful vintage patterns out there, and either they state that they need a specialized hook or yarn that is no longer available yet if we just give them a try turn out to be pretty good Crochet Patterns, Like this Crochet Horse
This is a vintage crochet pattern originally printed in The Star Book No. 39 by the AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY. I cannot find an original place to link to but I found this pattern in an old knitting book from our local charity shop.

However, I found Ravelry has a designer showcase on a lot of their books, but alas no crochet horse pattern.
If someone can help me to link it up that would be great, I just love the vintage patterns, still as relevant today as yesteryear.
You can see a full rundown of the patterns they do have stored for this company HERE

I love horses and have tried many horse patterns, but always left feeling slightly disappointed by the outcome, the best one I had come across was a My Little Pony FREE PATTERN, but it still looked very cartoonish.

I wanted a finished horse the well....looked like a horse. This is one I made to look like my own Clydesdale horse. Reggie.

My Niece loves him and I am requested frequently to make horse owners similar to their horses.

Once I decided on my yarn and hook size, ANY you choose depending on how big or small you want your horse. I used a 4.0mm hook and Double knit Yarn.

I just followed the instructions, there is a LOT of breaking yarn and starting again, I would love to make this a Simpler pattern, Maybe in the future,  however, I just followed exactly as per the instructions below.

I would advise making sure you are fully concentrating!!! as it IS very full-on instructions line by line.

(I think the only bit you get confused at is visualizing the pieces, (SEE Photo for Help), and once I saw how they turned out I was mad at myself for trying to make it difficult.

It really IS EASY, and actually turned out to be a very simple crochet horse pattern
