This is a crochet beanie pattern to make a beanie-type crochet hat for adults with a Turn-up and is a FREE Crochet Hat Pattern from LisaAuch Crochet.
I crochet this hat to donate to Charity. As they are super stretchy soft and with the turn up Cuff to keep your ears cozy too.
If I gather enough requests I will add in all the other sizes to crochet the hat. But in the meantime, I have added in ideas on how you can change the size of the hat relatively easily.
I Love wearing a simple crochet beanie. However, since Moving to the Highlands in Scotland I have wanted to create something like the Simple Croche beanie BUT with a TURN up.
So I took one of my older Crochet Hat Patterns for an Adults Beanie and Turned it into a Simple Beanie Type hat with a Turn-up! You can make for a man or a woman.
This is a super simple easy-to-follow basic ADULTS hat Crochet pattern.
I'd love to see what you make with it, and the colors you choose. Tag me on social media #lisaauchcrochet

Although I write my patterns in the US TERMINOLOGY, I used UK Double Knit /equivalent to US Worsted weight yarn. Which is a medium-weight yarn that is commonly used for a variety of knitting and crochet projects.
Worsted weight yarn is thicker than fingering weight and sport weight yarns but lighter than bulky weight yarns.
NOTE: worsted weight yarn typically has a recommended gauge of 16-20 stitches per 4 inches (10 cm) using needle sizes in the range of US 7 to 9 (4.5 to 5.5 mm).
For this project, we are going to use DK yarn and a 4.00mm hook. I however crochet extremely loosely you may find going UP a hook size to reach the desired measurements.
It IS important to note that there might be some variations in thickness between different brands and types of yarn, so it's always a good idea to check the recommended gauge on the yarn label!
How to Make this Hat fit! you need 3 measurements
1. Measure Around your Head = Hat circumference
DIVIDE Circumference number BY 3.14 which then EQUALS CROWN DIAMETER!
2. Measuring the Crown Diameter - is when we have increased the circle to the Measurement you worked out in the step. So Once you have reached the CROWN CIRCLE DIAMTMER measurement STOP increasing! and continue to the Length of Hat required for your size!
3. Length of hat - This is how many rows in TOTAL you will need to make to get a hat to fit your size.
See the Table Below for YOur sizes

I've also chosen not to start the beanie hat with a magic circle because I feel when starting out in crochet and learning new things, it can become quite overwhelming. When it really does not need to be.
Most crochet hat patterns I've seen will say start with a 'magic loop'. This hat Does NOT start with a magic circle /loop.
I specifically designed this easy adult beanie crochet hat with beginners in mind and you will start with a CHAIN of 4.
How many chains do you need to start this crochet beanie? You will start the beanie by making 3 chains THEN working on the FIRST chain you created!
