Free Crochet Pattern Beautiful Vintage Swing Baby Cardigan (0-3 months)

Free Crochet Patterns: Vintage Style Baby Cardigan and Matching Hat (Crochet Baby Set)
Crochet baby cardigan and hat pattern FREE

As you know I love experimenting with crochet patterns and I was really pleased with how this little baby cardigan and hat turned out.

I chose this gorgeous light purple to fit in with the slightly vintage feel I wanted but of course, you can pick any color you like.

I crocheted this up in about 2 hours using gorgeous soft double-knit yarn.

The cardigan itself is worked up in one piece and looks and feels fabulous even if I say so myself.

The cardigan is designed to keep the baby warm and cozy when out in the pram on a nice day.

You can choose a long-sleeve cardigan finish (as seen in the picture below for the santa baby outfit) or I just love the short flared sleeves are really pretty but, because they are short, it will work best worn over a long-sleeved top of some kind.

Step by Step easy baby booties Crochet  pattern FREE HERE

My friend had asked for shorter-length arms. So she could put the baby jacket over babies all in one baby grow/Onsie

But You can lengthen the arms  and the instructions are included in the pattern
I've styled it so the cardigan hangs from a high yoke and then out to a full and flouncy flare so it lies in nice folds.

The finished Jacket sits just at the right length if the baby had on the fancy ruffled pants. Since it is an open pattern, you can add your own little touches like ribbons if you want to.
The crocheted hat is perfect for keeping the chill off the baby’s head and it was so quick and easy to make too.I was particularly pleased with the scalloped edge which I think just adds to its appeal.
I think this set would be ideal for a new baby gift or baby shower – but what do you think?

Your baby will be the talk of the park – or the street, or the party – in this matching crocheted baby cardigan and hat.

Crocheting for Newborns and making baby sets is my favorite crochet project.
They are always fun to do and I just loved how this one turned out.

This is how your Cardigan should be looking at this point before the sleeves are worked

SLEEVE:

Round 1: With right side facing, Join yarn at bottom of armhole, SC evenly around armhole ,slip to join (28sts)
Round 2: Ch 3.(counts as first DC) SKip 1st, work (dc,ch1,2dc) SK 2, 1 DC in next ST, * Skip 2sts , (2dc,ch1,2dc) skip 2sts, 1dc in next * repeat ** around armhole, finish with a dc, skip 1stitch and then, SL ST in top of CH 3 to join. (the underarm will only have ONE Double crochet between the shells.
Round 3-5 CH 3, Repeat Row 1, but work DC in each side of previous rounds DC. So you will have 2 DC stitches between each shell. except at underarm
(This is where I finished for the shorter sleeves. You can continue working to achieve a longer length. Just keep working in an established pattern, finishing on round 7

Row 8: CH 3,  Repeat Row 1, decrease by working the 2 dc tog. Around, slip to join

Row 9: CH 1,   SC in same ST, SK 1 ST, around, slip to join

Row 10: CH 1,  SC in each SC around, slip to join, and fasten off

Repeat for the second sleeve. Fasten off and weave in all ends. If you want to attach buttons I simply use the spaces naturally created down the front from the double crochet rows, for the buttonholes.
